In my role as a Full Stack Developer I have advised a number of organisations including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Octopus Investments and Stratajet. A motivated, focused developer, I’m passionate about building visually appealing products that are performant and easy-to-use, built with well-structured and readable code. I’m always willing to learn, teach others, and try new things.

Key projects I have worked on include Emergency Travel Documents, Octopus Investments Online, Octopus Investments valuation tool, Octopus Taxi, Octopus Wealth, StrataFleet private jet fleet management system and the StrataJet private jet flight booking site.

I joined CYB as I wanted to learn different parts of web development. I enjoy learning and then teaching other people what I’ve learnt, especially if they’re less fortunate. Outside of CYB I’ve enjoyed creating courses on Udemy and YouTube, writing a sci-fi novel and making a game for an autistic charity with my wife.

I lead on delivery and CYB’s people strategy, supporting on business planning and operations, and ensuring our purpose – of using digital as a force for good – flows through all our work. Having grown and supported teams in both the public and private sectors, I try my very best to bring a deep understanding of how to create the conditions and culture that enables teams of designers, researchers, developers, and policymakers to work together and deliver incredible work and outcomes for our clients.

A strong blend of business analysis, stakeholder management and technical skills, underpinned with a great degree of tenacity, has allowed me to use my experience of project delivery to provide the tools, processes, and company culture to enable others to thrive as professionals and deliver life-changing outcomes. I draw on my experience of design and tech consulting, having advised a wide range of organisations through my career including Deloitte, Aegon, WaterAid, AND Digital, Travis Perkins, Whitbread (Premier Inn, Hub, Costa), Thomas Cook, GDS, mySociety, Facebook, FutureGov, Essex County Council, NHS Digital, Grenfell United, Homes England, Kent County Council, Lambeth Borough Council, the Department for Education and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

My ultimate goal is for everybody I work with, both within CYB and our client teams, to come to work feeling excited and supported to get stuck in, to be able to do an effective day's work, have a fun time while doing so, and work on things that make a positive difference to people's lives.

Full Stack Developer

As Senior Fullstack Developer and part of CYB’s Engineering Practice I’ve supported the Cabinet Office, Social Finance, the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office and the Home Office. In prior roles I’ve advised Greenpeace, Koto, Airbnb, the Canadian Government, Meatable, Incite, BAMM Global, the Design Jobs Board, Bold tendencies, hook.tech and many more organisations.

I’ve recently worked on a form builder product with the Government, which is open source and now used by the Government Digital Service, other departments and has global reach. I manage the growing community around this form builder, which is saving organisations time when they are building online services, involving online forms, and making digital transformation more efficient, and user focussed. I also work on Give a Little, a project that minimises the barriers for charities to take donations.

Making a real impact on people's lives, and getting to make use of my grey matter, is why I work at CYB. I’m interested in using tech and critical thinking to improve the lives of the proletariat and those disproportionately affected, whether in relation to race or gender etc, and I’m interested in inspiring people to get into tech who don’t come from traditional tech or university backgrounds.

As a Senior Product Manager, I have advised several different clients including the FCDO, Social Finance, Squeaky Energy, Neighbourhood Watch, Surrey Council, ABRSM, BSM and The Stationary Office. Outside of consultancy, I worked at Vinspired and Appsme, having also previously worked in music industry, marketing and physiotherapy.

I have over 10 years of diverse digital experience within government, consultancies, charities, product organisations and the music industry. Working at the forefront of delivering value to both users and the businesses I've worked in, I have helped build and motivate teams to deliver the right products and success and played a key role in digital transformation. A team player and problem solver, I’m adept at working with product/technical teams, and do everything necessary to help teams build better products and services. 

Some of the standout projects I have consulted on include Prove Your Eligibility, Travel Alerts, Assistance, Long tail of Notarial and other discoveries for FCDO, Leaving Well (Social Finance), the Squeaky energy website rebuild, Neighbourhood Watch discovery, the Vinspired volunteering website, ABRSM Aural Trainer, the BSM Theory Test App and the UK Citizenship Test app.

Having previously had a career in other fields, I have an inquisitive nature, wanting to fix things and solve problems, drawing on my experience and understanding of people from working in physio. I joined the CYB team as I wanted to get involved in some government work, plus I really like the people.

As Head of Design, I lead CYB’s Design Practice, with responsibility for design strategy and managing our design team. I am a service designer with 20+ years of experience in the design industry and a background in Visual and UX design. Creative problem solving is at the heart of my work. Bringing together user-centred design expertise, analytical thinking, and strong visual communication skills, I help teams design and deliver digital services that delight users and businesses alike.

I have supported a wide range of clients including the FCDO, the Cabinet Office, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the City of London, Southwark Council, Abu Dhabi Art, the Royal Mail and Boots. Prior to joining CYB I was the Founding Partner and Creative Director of Beam Creative, where I developed and grew the agency, leading on design strategy for all projects.

Some of the key projects I have worked on include the Learning Platform for Government, Emergency Travel Alerts, Getting Married Abroad, cycling campaigns for various London councils and the development of a digital performance coaching system. 

I like to mentor organisations to adopt user-centred design, using my skills to help improve the world. I love working with a team of people who are extremely talented whilst passionately caring about their work, who sincerely want to change services for the better, serving the social good.

As a User Researcher I work within CYB’s Research Practice. During my career at CYB, and prior to joining the company, I have supported a wide range of organisations including Heineken, Tetley, Pizza Hut, Tesco, Microsoft, Booking.com, Dulux, Sony, Revlon, Perkbox, Talk Talk Broadband, Adobe and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. Having worked in digital social advertising, I career-switched with CYB’s support to become a User Researcher, and I draw on this experience to understand what really resonates with people through research, testing and measurement.

One of my career highlights involved controlling budgets at Perkbox to generate a high return on ad spend, with continuous A/B testing to increase lead volumes across the business. Perkbox became a market leader within just 2 years, largely due to my Facebook strategy where I used an 'experiment, learn and iterate' approach which drove sign-ups at scale using lookalike audiences, creative testing and lead scoring software.

My background in digital and social advertising helps me have the ability to manage projects and stakeholders, communicating results through visual reports and data analytics. As part of my work, I want to help address societal issues through understanding why and how people think and behave.

As Director of Digital Services, I lead on all the commercial aspects of our consultancy work, driving our growth and strategy, supporting our clients. I'm responsible for all sales, delivery and making CYB a brilliant place for people to work, in line with our purpose: using digital as a force for good.

Recent highlights include successfully securing multimillion pound deals, exciting clients, and transforming technology and organisations across the private, public and charity sectors. With over 15 years’ experience in digital transformation, I’ve advised a wide range of clients including the London Borough of Hackney, Young Minds, the Government Digital Service (GDS), the University of London, the Cabinet Office and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office. Key projects I’ve worked on have included the 2012 Olympics and GDS Transformation Exemplar. 

As Co-Founder and Organiser of Diversity & Inclusion in tech, I help to bring together a global network of people who care about diversity and inclusion in the tech industry. I mentor at several organisations as I'm passionate about technology's potential to have a positive impact on the economy and the environment, making people's lives easier. I'm always interested in hearing from people who share our values, hard work and passion for digital, so get in touch.

As Head of CYB’s Research Practice I lead and manage our research team, with responsibility for all quantitative and qualitative user research. With a strong focus on using digital as a force for good, I draw on user research insights to create effective, efficient, and delightful user experiences.

I use my understanding of human behaviour and research methods within multidisciplinary Agile teams, to help solve problems for users and businesses. Having worked in research and digital transformation for ten years, I have supported the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, Social Finance, Surrey County Council, the Parliamentary Digital Service, the Government Digital Service, Deutsche Bank, HCL, Cardiff University, the Welsh Autism Research Centre, and the NHS Eating Disorders Outpatient treatment team. I have worked on implementing the EU accessibility statement into law, using User Centred Design methods to influence the design of accessibility statements. This along with having my insights used by the W3 - the creators of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines – has been a career highlight.

Prior to working in digital transformation, I was a research assistant in psychology. This background has given me a good grounding in research methods, ethics, and statistics. I'd like to create a society where the needs of people and the planet are balanced. Using my research skills, I believe I can find solutions that allow people to improve their lives without destroying the planet to get there.

I work within CYB’s Engineering Practice as Lead Engineer. While working for CYB I’ve supported the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and prior to joining the company, in my work for SS&C GlobeOp, we partnered with many banks to automate payments via SWIFT network. The banks I worked closely with during this time included JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citibank, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and the Royal Bank of Scotland.

One of my career highlights involved working on an emergency travel documents application, for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, which has helped many people. Other career highlights include building a payments workflow system from the ground up to processing 1.3 trillion USD. I also automated the payment flow through a SWIFT middleware application, which I was able to expand to other parts of the company to have all SWIFT traffic flow through, making it a core application for the company's business.

I joined CYB because I like what the company stands for - building services for the public good appeals to me.  I felt I could also make use of the experience I've gained during my career to make a difference at CYB. I've always liked the idea of consultancy and being surrounded by a great team at CYB that have a deep and broad knowledge of their subject area was an added bonus.

As Founder and Managing Director I am responsible for the strategy, operations and culture of CYB. Through my work I seek to bring people together to demonstrate how judicious use of new technology can increase human care both for the earth, and for each other. I founded CYB to bring to market a fresh approach to high end digital transformation consultancy, focussing on leading by doing, focussing on people, on value delivered, and capability building in clients. 

At CYB and in my prior career, working internationally, I have supported a wide range of organisations including Corizon, Guardian News & Media, Future Workshops, British Telecom, Government Digital Service, Home Office, Business Innovation & Skills, Scottish Government, Neighbourhood Watch Network, Surrey County Council, New Zealand Government and New Zealand Rail. With more than 25 years’ experience, key projects I have worked on include Give A Little, Smart Routing, Commuter App, Grants Funding Service, dashdit.com, Learning Platform, UK Visit Visa Services, Registered Traveller Service, GDS Transformation programme, BT Digital Tin, BT Geared for Giving, Government as a Platform, Charity Commission Digital Transformation, XGov Form Builder, Global Digital Marketplace, Guardian iOS Subscriptions, Guardian Interactive News Team, Guardian Digital Payments, Home Office Digital strategy, NHW membership model, Scottish Government Digital Transformation.

I want to use my skills to improve the world and I regularly speak at events, and write articles and blogs, on strategic issues facing society, the planet and tech, with a focus on using digital as a force for good.

In my role as a Service Designer in CYB’s Design Practice I have supported a wide range of organisations including the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), Surrey County Council, Gingerbread - Nation Single Parent Charity, St Christophers Hospice, Healthy London Partnerships, Barking and Dagenham Council, Southwark Council, Haringey Council, West London CCG, Origin Housing and the Health Foundation.

Key projects I have worked on include Digitising Providing Assistance Abroad for FCDO, redesigning peer support services to improve single parent’s wellbeing for Gingerbread, the Healthy High Streets Innovation project for Healthy London Partnerships and Coach4Care for St Christopher’s Hospice.

I took part in Year Here, the postgraduate course in social innovation focussed on building creative, scalable responses to social problems supported by industry mentoring. One of my career highlights was leading the redesign of peer support services for the national single parent's charity Gingerbread, establishing co-design as a core part of the charity's strategy, developing and testing a set of innovative services to help improve single parent families' health and wellbeing, and engaging a whole host of partners and stakeholders in the process.

Through my work at CYB I use methods and principles of service design to co-create exceptional and visionary services that are efficient, sustainable and have people's health and wellbeing at their core.

Working within the Engineering Practice as a Full Stack Developer, I have a track record of supporting a wide range of organisation. Some of the organisations I have supported or collaborated with at CYB and in my prior career include the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the Environment Agency, the Met Office, Ordnance Survey, Keynetix and Atkins Global.

Almost all of the projects I've worked on as a software engineer have been public or national good focused. Key projects and services I’ve had the opportunity to work on during my career so far include Emergency Travel Documents, UK Geoenergy Observatories (UKGeos), Environmental Science to Services Partnership, Business Information Management for the Subsurface (Innovate UK), Research into Web API design, development & documentation, IGeology3D, Sustainable use of the Subsurface, National Geoscience Data Centre (NGDC), Crowdsourcing for CEH Digital Landcover map, Crowdsourcing for BGS Digital Geology map, Proactive Infrastructure Monitoring and Evaluation (PRIME), and a Building Stones Database for Scotland. One of my career highlights was being a guest speaker at PETEX 2016, the largest subsurface-focused global conference and exhibition in the UK.

I love to observe, think, innovate, and optimise. My Ikigai, or reason for being, is to craft and embed a value orientated philosophy into the teams I'm in, the projects I'm on, and the systems that challenge me.
